The City is holding neighborhood forum with neighborhood leaders and the Chief of Public Works and Transportation and members of their staff. At these forum meetings, we will discuss “related issues”, including recycling, street sweeping, snow removal, trash, sanitation, road construction, etc. It looks to be partially informative, to let us know what the rules are, and part interactive to get feedback and ideas.
In an effort to get more ESNA members involved in the NA, I’m asking if anyone would like to join me and participate in these meetings. This is a chance to get more involved in the neighborhood goings on, and to interact with city leaders. If interested, you would need to commit to the Last Thursday of every month, beginning this week through June.
Please let me know if you’re interested, and I can pass on the agenda and discuss the meetings with you.

Something needs to be done about people going through trash bags, ripping them open and leaving trash on the street to never be collected! It's a mess!
While illegal, BPD has stated they have no interest in policing said activity. Some ways to help combat the problem
- Bring your trash out in the morning, rather than the evening before
- Recycle cans and such, don't throw them in the trash
- Use clear plastic bags or blue bins for recycling, so 'good' pickers can see there are no returnable bottles/cans
- If you can, put returnables outside of your recycling - in a 'foodies bag' next to your recycling.
And most importantly, if your trash has been picked, please clean up. Every owner is legally responsible for the cleanliness of your sidewalk, so if someone made a mess, cleaning it up quickly is the best thing you can do right now. (unless you'd like to start a lobby to revoke the bottle bill)
